Project #6: Block Print Patterns

This project here is a block print pattern. We first took a piece of easy cut printing block, which is a sort of block that is much easier material to cut through with carving tools. I used the widest edge, which is a 6, and the thinnest edge, which is a 1. I used the 6 to make deep indentations around the pattern I drew, which was a bottom view of an octopus. The 1 was used to cut out the pattern itself and the octopus' individual suction cups. I then spread the ink I desired to use on a plate to mix the yellow and green to make a warmer green-yellow. I then spread it on the stamp I created and pressed it into the paper. I used the stamp 4 times, and completely filled the paper with my design. I named my design "cephalopod", after the fact that I carved an octopus design into the block.
