Project #3: Self Portrait Linoleum Block Prints

The project here is a linocut, which is a cut in a wonder  cut linoleum, which is easy to cut into than other types of linoleum. It is an abstract self-portrait of myself, which is then spread with colored ink and printed onto a piece of paper. I chose a more abstract route with my cut, as it is obviously not a picture of my actual face. This is representative of my ongoing struggle with depression as I also struggle to try and come to terms with one of my best friends killing themselves. This project is called "i'm fine :)"., as it is something I often say to people when I am sad, since it is hard to explain that you can't think yourself into a good mood. The eye popping out of my head is representative of how it feels to internalize all the rough times I'm having without being able to vent to people, while not showing my eyes from under my glasses represents how I am sort of projecting what I think people want to see instead of how I actually should. You could call this a sort of sequel to "quitter.", and that's all I can really think of to say. I hope you enjoy.
